Probably on of the hardest tasks when looking for a host is the pricing and features you get. Some will over charge you drastically while others will give you more space than you could get for free! This review will shine the spotlight on some of the best cheap hosts.
Chronic Hosting – This is one of the best hosts I have ever seen. There plans truly are cheap. Cheapest being $3.50 and most expensive being $20. An advantage are their monthly plans. I got lucky and snagged a great plan for 300 MB and 2 Gigs bandwidth transfer for $2 a month. Thats more space than the first plan yet cheaper! Every plan also comes with a ton of great features like the Control Panel 6.0, unlimited subdomains, password protected directories, unlimited MySql databases and alot more. Their support section is wonderful. You get access to their forums and your own helpdesk upon registering which is very great. The support team gets on your issue within hours. If you’re low on dough, this is the way to go. Chronic Hosting [“Tear” sent ya ;)]
MySunDown – Another great cheapo hosting company. There plans are cheap but not as cheap as Chronic Hosting. Their cheapest plan is at $3 a month. It will get you 100 MB and 2.5 Gigs of bandwidth transfer while their Macho plan will set you back $9 a month and retrive you 400 MB with 15 Gigs of trasnfer. Obviously you can tell that by using Chronic Hosting, you can get the chepeast plan with just about as much space as MySunDown’s most expensive plan. Feature wise, they don’t offer too much. You have PHP and CGI accessable, unlimited subdomains, Control Panel 6.0 and a few other features. You also get a 2 week moeny back guarentee if you’re not fully satisfied which is good. I don’t know how their support is since I’m hosted at Chronic Hosting but I’m sure it can contend having support forums and a help desk as well. This would be my second choice after Chronic Hosting.
Onedollarhost – This host is by far the cheapest but somewhat has an erie feel to it. What’s their cheapest plan? For $1 a month you get your own domain name, unlimited server space, unlimited data transfer [bandwidth], no ads, CGI-Bin, PHP, and more! What’s the catch? I do not know, apparently there is none. The only thing that will put you back a few bucks is the domain name registration fee which is $15. Their support isn’t as reliable as the others, only taking in questions via email which I wouldn’t take kindly to. This is a highly recommended one considering it’s bizarre pricing for so much space. One Dollar Host
So there you have it. Three reviews of a few of the cheapest hosts I’ve found on the web. Which one is best for you however? Well if you basically want enough space just to host a small site, any one will do fine but if you want something bigger than will use more space and you can toss around a few extra dollars, Chronic Hosting is definitely my overall choice as the best out of those listed.
